Somalia
Several people have been killed and a dozen others injured in two separate bomb attacks in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.
In the first attack, a car bomb exploded near a hotel on a busy street killing at least ten people, according to the website of local Radio Shabelle.
Hours earlier, another blast killed killed the driver of a minibus who tried to breach a checkpoint.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
However, Islamist militant group al-Shabab has carried out frequent attacks in Somalia in an attempt to oust the government.
Somalia’s new president, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed vowed to crush al Shabaab, which is fighting to rule the Horn of Africa nation according to Islamic law.
The Somali government, with the help of AU forces, is fighting the militants in several parts of the country.
